- FT learned about the day of the start of serious negotiations on ending the conflict in Gaza
Serious negotiations to end the conflict in the Gaza Strip will begin on the first day of the truce. This was reported on July 6 by the Financial Times newspaper with reference to the draft version of the proposal for a cease-fire in the Palestinian enclave, which was prepared by the United States, Qatar and Egypt.
"According to the draft proposals, "serious negotiations" on ending the conflict — a long—standing demand of [the Palestinian movement] Hamas — will begin from day one," the publication says.
It is specified that the mediators will also provide guarantees for the extension of the truce if it takes more time to conclude a deal on the final conclusion of the conflict.
According to the newspaper, additional negotiations may be needed to discuss the details of the withdrawal of the Israeli army from the Palestinian enclave during the negotiations, as well as the release of prisoners from Israel in exchange for hostages held by Hamas.
In addition, the document says that during the first 60-day truce, mass deliveries of humanitarian aid will begin to the Palestinian territories. They will be implemented through the United Nations (UN) and other international non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
The Ynet portal, citing sources, reported on July 5 that Israel intends to send a delegation to Doha to negotiate an agreement on the release of hostages from the Gaza Strip. It was noted that the negotiations on the territory of Qatar between the countries will be indirect.
