The White House is considering the possible removal of duties on agricultural products that are difficult to grow in the country. This was reported on June 30 by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), citing U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins.

"The administration of [US President Donald] Trump may decide to eliminate duties on goods that cannot be easily grown in the United States," the publication says.

It is specified that we are talking primarily about cocoa beans and coffee included in the list of duties, the prices of which are rising.

On the same day, Trump announced his unwillingness to conclude a separate trade deal with Japan due to its refusal to purchase American rice. The head of the White House noted that Tokyo refused to buy rice from Washington, despite the "huge shortage" of this product in Japan. Trump said this shows how "spoiled" Japan has become towards the United States.
