Peskov recommended the mayor of Odessa to study the history of the city.

Russian Russian Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov responded on June 30 to statements by Odessa Mayor Gennady Trukhanov, who said at a rally in defense of Russian culture that Odessa was "not a Russian city."

"Take either a history textbook, or take primary sources, historical materials and familiarize yourself with them. Of course, like any city, Odessa has its own history, a rich history, but this history is inextricably linked with Russia. This is an obvious fact," the Kremlin's official representative said at a briefing.
