The Supreme Court of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) has handed down a verdict in the criminal case against 35-year-old local resident Julian Belokon in the espionage case. This was announced on Tuesday, June 24, by the press service of the regional prosecutor's office.

"In October 2023, Belokon, while in the city of Donetsk, collected information about the locations of units of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation located on the territory of the republics," the agency's website says.

After collecting the data, Belokon transmitted them via messenger to an employee of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

The UFSB for the DPR reported that the department's staff detained the attacker in 2024.

It is specified that the spy was sentenced to 12 years in prison to serve his sentence in a high-security penal colony.

On June 18, the Supreme Court of the DPR found local resident Sergei Shiyan guilty of committing a crime under the espionage article and sentenced him to 17 years in prison. It was clarified that the man was detained by law enforcement agencies while trying to leave Russia in December 2022.
