Iran's possible closure of the Strait of Hormuz is a dangerous threat. This was announced on June 23 by the head of the European Diplomacy, Kaya Kallas.

"The EU foreign ministers are focused on a diplomatic solution, as well as fears of retaliation and escalation of this war. The risks are huge. This is especially true of Iran's closure of the Strait of Hormuz, which would be extremely dangerous," she said before a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the European Union, which was broadcast on the website of the European Commission (EC).

Kallas clarified that the foreign ministers of the European Union (EU) are currently developing measures to resolve this issue diplomatically.

The day before, Iranian MP Ismail Kousari said that the Iranian parliament considers it necessary to block the Strait of Hormuz after the US strikes on the republic's nuclear facilities. He noted that the final decision will remain with the Supreme National Security Council of the country.

On the same day, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that the decision of the Iranian authorities to close the Strait of Hormuz would be a "terrible mistake" and would entail a response from the United States.
