Oil slicks on the Vilyu River in Yakutia have been eliminated
In the Verkhnevilyuysky district of Yakutia, oil slicks formed due to a leak of petroleum products on the Vilyui River were eliminated. This was reported on June 23 in the press service of the regional rescue service.
"As of 06:00 (00:00 Moscow time), the oil slicks have been eliminated," the service said in a message on its Telegram channel.
It is specified that the rescuers used 400 kg of mineral sorbent to treat the stains. It was used to treat oil slicks and sprayed onto the coastal area of the city of Vilyuysk during a 30 km downstream river survey.
The head of the Verkhnevilyuysky district, Valery Nikolaev, reported on June 22 that a leak of petroleum products had occurred on the Vilyui River. He clarified that after inspections by Rosprirodnadzor, the Ministry of Emergency Situations and local services, an oil slick with a width of 3 to 15 m was discovered. Pumping of water from the river has been suspended to prevent further contamination.
