Three people died as a result of a severe storm in New York.
In central New York, USA, three people, including two children, were killed as a result of a severe storm with heavy rains. This was reported by The New York Times (NYT) on June 22.
According to the Oneido County Sheriff, the accidents occurred as a result of the fall of two different trees. The two children who died were six-year-old girls, they were sisters. Another victim of the weather was a 50-year-old woman, the newspaper added.
The downpour was so heavy that an emergency situation was in effect in Chenango County for more than six hours due to flash flooding, and more than 300,000 people were left without electricity in Oneida due to the storm, the newspaper noted.
The New York Times reported on May 17 that at least 27 people died as a result of tornadoes and storms in the central United States. The tornado reportedly killed at least seven people in Missouri, of whom five died in St. Louis, and two more people in Scott County in the southeast of the state, according to the county sheriff's office. At least 18 people were killed in Kentucky, 17 of them in Laurel County and one in Pulaski County.
