Vladimir Golubev, President of the Russian Cynological Federation, has warned that bathing dogs in fountains and city ponds can be dangerous.

In an interview with Radio 1 on Friday, June 20, he explained that standing water in the heat promotes the reproduction of microorganisms and viruses, and can also cause infection with parasites, infections, and even lead to death in a pet.

"Bathing in a pond, especially in a fountain, can lead to helminthic infestations, conjunctivitis, <...> infections that can lead not only to poisoning, but also to death," Golubev explained.

He also noted that bathing does not help the animal cool down, but creates a "greenhouse effect." It is better to wet your paws and nose, monitor your drinking and walk your dog in safe places. Swimming in reservoirs is allowed only outside the city and no longer than 20 minutes — provided vaccination and a safe shore, writes RT.

In early June, it was reported that more than 20 playgrounds would be set up in the capital as part of the Pets in Moscow project. One of them has already opened on Kaspiyskaya Street in the Tsaritsyno district.
