The pyrotechnic detachment of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations has cleared more than 120 hectares of the border area of the Kursk region, such work is underway in 122 settlements. This was announced on Thursday, June 19, by the press service of the ministry.

"Since August 2024, the consolidated pyrotechnic detachment of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations has defused almost 7 thousand explosive objects. Among them are aerial bombs, artillery shells, anti—tank mines, hand grenades, improvised drone drops, and attack drones," the Russian Emergencies Ministry's Telegram channel says.

The ministry added that the most common finds among explosive objects are submunitions, including anti-personnel mines prohibited by the Geneva Convention - "bells". Such ammunition is almost invisible in the grass, and also hangs on trees or bushes. Pyrotechnics detonate them on the spot.

"Mine clearance operations are carried out in fields and forests, along roads and in the residential sector. Rescuers of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations are clearing mines in 122 settlements," the Ministry concluded.

On June 15, the Russian Defense Ministry showed footage of Russian sappers working on humanitarian demining of the area. Sappers detect and professionally neutralize various explosive objects both Ukrainian and foreign production.
