On June 19, the results of the bid campaign for the National Prize in the Field of Future Technologies "Challenge" were announced at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. In 2025, 632 applications from 40 countries were submitted for it. This was stated by Dmitry Chernyshenko, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia.

"Our President Vladimir Putin, in his greeting to the participants and organizers of the Challenge Award, noted that last year it reached the international level and received recognition from foreign friends and partners. This season we are seeing an increase in the popularity of this award. A total of 632 applications were received from 40 countries. The international nomination "Discovery" aroused the greatest interest. The number of applications received from abroad increased by almost 40%. I am sure that in the future the award will continue to attract more and more participants, contribute to strengthening international cooperation and popularization of Russian science," the Deputy Prime Minister stressed.

In the international nomination Discovery ("Discovery") 155 applications were received from scientists from abroad. At the same time, 75% of applications for the Challenge Award in 2025 were submitted by Russian scientists representing 58 regions of the Russian Federation.

"This year we have received even more applications than last year, while their quality has traditionally remained at a high level. The members of the scientific committee of the award face a difficult and responsible task — to select the most outstanding scientific papers from a large number of first-class ones. At this stage, it is difficult to predict who will become the laureates of the Challenge Award in 2025, but I can say with confidence that they will be great scientists," said Artyom Oganov, Chairman of the scientific committee of the Challenge Award, professor at the Russian Academy of Sciences.

The results of the 2025 bid campaign were announced at the booth of the Challenge Award's communication partner, the MAER Media Holding, during the signing of the cooperation agreement.

"Supporting science and technology is an investment in the future. Our screens have traditionally become a platform for promoting breakthrough ideas, names and projects that can change our world. In 20 days, 12 million people learned about the award. The growing number of applications, especially from abroad, confirms that Challenge is a global platform for scientific dialogue. I am sure that the winners of the award will be those whose discoveries will soon go down in history, and we will be happy to tell millions of viewers about them," said Konstantin Mayor, owner and CEO of the MAER media holding.

The award fund in 2025 is 60 million rubles — 12 million in each of the five nominations.
