A member of the Bahraini delegation noted the opportunities in the Russian gas and oil market

Bahrain sees many opportunities in the Russian gas and oil market, as well as in technology and pharmaceuticals. This was stated to Izvestia by Ahmed Al Salloum, a member of the delegation of the eastern country, on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) on June 18.

"We plan to sign six memorandums of understanding through our Chamber of Commerce. These memoranda are needed in order to start cooperation with Russian companies," he said.

The delegate also noted the importance of the St. Petersburg forum for business development.

"This forum is very important because more than 130 countries are represented at it. <...> We are here to meet with representatives of many countries and companies and discuss cooperation with Bahrain," Al Salloum added.

Russian Ambassador Alexey Skosyrev said on June 16 that trade between Russia and Bahrain increased by almost 15% in the first quarter of 2025 compared to the same period last year. He also stressed that economic cooperation between the two countries has faced certain difficulties in recent years due to illegal restrictive measures imposed by Western countries.
