Manturov denied reports of plans to return Toyota and Hyundai to Russia
Relations with Toyota and Hyundai companies in Russia have been completely interrupted since 2022, there has been no information about plans for their return to the country. This was stated by the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov.
"I haven't actually received any information from either Hyundai or Toyota regarding their return. Because I still come from official sources, and from the correspondence or interactions that we had earlier. But since the age of 22, our relations have been completely interrupted, both through one structure and through another," Manturov said on RBC—TV, quoted by TASS on June 17.
Yesterday it became known that Porsche AG, which stopped official deliveries of cars to Russia in 2022, did not leave the country due to difficulties with the sale of assets. It planned to complete the sale of its Russian subsidiaries by the end of fiscal year 2024.
Prior to that, on June 10, it was reported that Mazda Motor Rus was planning to establish centralized deliveries of Mazda cars to Russia and bring about 3,000 cars of the brand for sale by the end of the year, providing them with its own warranty.
On May 30, Maxim Kadakov, editor-in-chief of Za Rulem magazine, commented on media reports that Toyota was returning to the Russian market. He pointed out that dealers transport cars to the country according to an alternative scheme with the payment of commercial scrap, and also provide their own two-year warranty (the manufacturer is not responsible for it).
