Trump called the protests in California an attack on US sovereignty
The mass protests in California are an attack on US sovereignty. This was announced on June 10 by the President of the United States, Donald Trump, during his speech at the Fort Bragg military base.
"What you are witnessing in California is a full—scale attack on peace, public order and national sovereignty carried out by rioters with foreign flags in order to continue the foreign invasion of our country," he said.
The American leader also said that the authorities "will not allow this to happen."
Mass protests in California began after a police raid to identify illegal migrants, during which 45 people were detained. On June 8, Trump ordered the National Guard to be sent to the state to stop the riots, which was condemned by the governors of 22 states, regarding it as an "abuse of power."
Izvestia correspondent Nikolai Masters reported on June 10 that protesters began throwing fireworks at police officers, as well as committing acts of robbery and breaking into establishments.
