The cost of the Canadian program for the purchase of F-35 fighter jets from the American military industrial corporation Lockheed Martin increased by $6.5 billion, rising from $13.89 billion to $20.2 billion in two years. This was reported on Tuesday, June 10, by the SVS TV channel with reference to a report submitted by the country's chief auditor Karen Hogan.

At the same time, according to the report, this cost does not include providing the necessary infrastructure for servicing fighter jets — it can cost at least an additional $ 5.5 billion.

The reason for the price difference was the use of an outdated settlement system by the Canadian Ministry of Defense and global factors such as rising inflation, currency fluctuations and increased global demand for ammunition.

On May 26, La Libre newspaper reported that Belgium postponed the delivery of F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine until 2028. A European country has already accepted delivery of these aircraft from the Netherlands for pre-shipment training.
