- During the riots in Los Angeles, a NYP photographer was hit in the forehead by a rubber bullet
During the riots in Los Angeles, California police officers wounded Toby Kenham, a photographer for The New York Post (NYP), with a rubber bullet in the forehead. This was reported on June 10 in the material on the publication's website.
"California police shot an NYP photographer in the head with a rubber bullet during violent protests in Los Angeles on Sunday (June 8. — Ed.) in the evening," the publication says.
It is clarified that Kenham was carrying out an editorial assignment. The photographer was on a hill near the 101st highway and filmed the riots that arose between the police and the protesters.
On Monday, June 9, the photographer was in the hospital due to a whiplash injury and neck pain. Kenham was left with a huge bruise on his forehead.
Mass protests in California began after a police raid to identify illegal migrants, during which 45 people were detained. On June 8, US President Donald Trump ordered the National Guard to be sent to the state to stop the riots, which was condemned by the governors of 22 states, regarding it as an "abuse of power."
Later that day, it became known that protesters in Los Angeles began throwing fireworks at police officers. According to Izvestia correspondent Nikolai Masterov, law enforcement officers are actively using tear gas against protesters.
