In 2024, the security forces of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) prevented 550 terrorist crimes. This was announced on June 10 by the head of the Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia, Alexander Bortnikov, at a meeting of the CIS anti-terrorist structures.
"Last year alone, special services and law enforcement agencies of the CIS countries prevented 550 crimes of a terrorist and extremist nature," the head of the department said.
Bortnikov added that over the specified period, more than 5.5 thousand terrorists, extremists and mercenaries were identified. More than 1.5 thousand people from these categories were also detained.
He added that Western countries use psychological operations units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). to incite ethnic conflicts in the CIS.
On April 8, Bortnikov announced that 47 terrorist crimes involving young people had been prevented since the beginning of this year. According to him, over the past three years, over 2.5 thousand young people have been detained.
