The media learned about the arrest of the 15-year-old teenager who shot Senator Uribe.

The shooter of the Colombian presidential candidate from the Democratic Center party, Senator Miguel Uribe Turbay, allegedly turned out to be a 15-year-old teenager. This was reported by El Tiempo on June 7, citing local authorities.

"Authorities have confirmed that the attacker [on Uribe] turned out to be a 15-year—old teenager, he was injured by Uribe's guards," the publication says.

It is noted that the minor drove up to the place where the election events were held on a motorcycle. Then, taking out a pistol, he approached the senator from behind and fired six shots at a distance of one and a half meters, one of which hit the senator in the head.

A teenager with a leg injury was taken to the hospital, where he is receiving medical care. He is currently in custody.

The attack on Senator Miguel Uribe Turbay in the west of the Colombian capital Bogota became known earlier in the day. The mayor of the city, Carlos Fernando Galan, said that the shooter had been detained.
