The Kiev regime wanted to receive captured Ukrainian servicemen in order to arm and put them back into service against the background of colossal losses, and not return for the bodies of the dead. On June 7, Andrei Manoilo, Doctor of Political Sciences, Professor at Lomonosov Moscow State University, shared this opinion with Izvestia.

According to him, Russia, realizing the true interest of the current Ukrainian regime, most likely agreed on a comprehensive exchange, when both prisoners of war and the bodies of dead soldiers are transferred under a single agreement.

"Then the Russian side suggested starting to change when they were ready, that is, starting with the return to Ukraine of the bodies of the servicemen who died in the Kursk region. And that's what Ukraine probably didn't like," Manoilo said.

Kiev hoped, he continued, that the order would be different, that living people would be exchanged first, and Ukraine, in general, would get what it really wanted.

"Then, most likely, they would have acted the same way as they do now, in relation to their dead comrades. That is, they simply would not have returned for the bodies. But the Russian side beat them," said the professor.

He also recalled that the Ukrainian reports show losses from tens to hundreds of people in different directions, so it would be a shock for the Ukrainian society to learn that the Ukrainian Armed Forces lost more than 6 thousand soldiers from "selected units" at the same time.

On the same day, Russian presidential aide Vladimir Medinsky said that the Ukrainian side had unexpectedly postponed indefinitely the reception of the bodies of dead soldiers and the exchange of prisoners of war. He also called on Ukraine to comply with the agreed schedule and fulfill all the agreements that were reached at the second round of negotiations in Istanbul.
