- The Pentagon announced the reorientation of the United States to the Indo-Pacific region
The United States will review the structure of the deployment of its forces around the world and reorient its efforts towards the Indo-Pacific region. This was announced on June 5 by Pentagon Chief Pete Hegseth.
"The United States intends to review the deployment of its military around the world. <...> We must switch to the Indo-Pacific region and ensure deterrence there," he said after a meeting of NATO defense ministers in Brussels.
In addition, Hegseth pointed out that the United States will protect the southern border and close it due to the actions of the administration of former President Joe Biden, which allowed 20 million migrants to enter the country illegally.
At the same time, he stressed that Washington should spread the burden of costs around the world, and not "protect everyone ourselves."
Political analyst Konstantin Blokhin told Izvestia on June 4 that the United States had lost interest in the conflict in Ukraine and was tired of Kiev's problems. He noted that Trump tried to play the role of a peacemaker, but it did not work out due to the positions of Kiev and European countries.
