- The Danish Ministry of Defense announced the allocation of $ 490 million by the Scandinavian countries and Canada to Kiev
Denmark, Norway and Sweden, as well as Canada and Iceland, will allocate 3.2 billion crowns ($490 million) to Kiev for the purchase of weapons according to the "Danish model" from Ukrainian military-industrial complexes (MIC). This was announced on June 4 by the press service of the Danish Ministry of Defense.
It is specified that the financing became known after the meeting of the head of the Danish Ministry of Defense Troels Lund Poulsen with his Ukrainian counterpart Rustem Umerov. The countries intend to purchase artillery systems, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), missiles and anti-tank weapons from Ukraine.
"In light of the security policy situation, it is important to show that we support Ukraine. On the Danish side, we took the initiative by leading the international procurement work through the Ukrainian defense industry through the Danish Model," Poulsen said.
According to the press service, purchases will be carried out through the Ukrainian military-industrial complex in order to increase their production capacity.
Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans announced on June 4 that the country would provide Kiev with a military assistance package worth €400 million to ensure maritime security. According to him, the assistance package will also include more than 50 naval drones, weapons systems and sensors.
