A girl was killed and 69 other people were injured in an earthquake in southern Turkey. This was announced on June 3 by the country's Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya.

He clarified that a 14-year-old teenager had a panic attack at the time of the earthquake, as a result of which she was hospitalized, but it was not possible to save her.

"As a result of the panic and high jumps in Mugla and its districts, 14 people out of 69 of our citizens were treated on the spot, and eight people were discharged on an outpatient basis," Yerlikaya said on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

The Minister expressed his condolences to the family of the deceased girl.

On June 2, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC) reported a magnitude 5.8 earthquake in the Aegean Sea near the Turkish coast. It was clarified that the seismic event was located at a depth of 68 km.
