Max Verstappen, a Dutch racing driver and four-time world champion from the Red Bull team, received three penalty points after an incident with a collision with George Russell, a British Mercedes driver, during the Spanish Formula 1 Grand Prix. This was announced on June 1 by the International Automobile Federation (FIA) on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

It is specified that the accident occurred at the entrance to the fifth turn of the race track.

"Immediately after the race, Verstappen was penalized with a ten-second penalty for this incident, which caused him to move to 10th place," Sport-Express clarifies.

Notably, the total number of penalty points credited to Verstappen now stands at 11. If you get one more point, the driver will be disqualified for one race.

Earlier, on May 3, McLaren driver Lando Norris won the sprint at the Miami Grand Prix of the Formula 1 Championship. Norris' teammate Oscar Piastri finished second (+0.672), while Ferrari driver Lewis Hamilton, a seven-time world champion, took third place (+1,073).
