Russian President Vladimir Putin has promised to expand the powers of the Defenders of the Fatherland Foundation to support military personnel with disabilities in sports. The Russian leader stated this on May 28 at a meeting of the Council for Physical Education and Sports.

Anna Tsivileva, State Secretary, Deputy Head of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation and head of the Defenders of the Fatherland Foundation, suggested that the organization should be given the opportunity to assist military personnel with disabilities in sports.

"Here is Dmitry Nikolaevich [Chernyshenko, Deputy Prime Minister. — Ed.] suggests that you just need to make changes to the relevant presidential decree, on the basis of which the Defenders of the Fatherland Foundation was created. And it is better to expand the powers of the foundation than to create any additional organizations, you have experience, you have people," Putin said and noted that amendments would be made to the decree.

In addition, the Russian leader stressed that attention should not be slackened to participants in a special military operation with disabilities, as they may need support.

In addition, according to the head of state, it is also necessary to express gratitude to the coaches with specific incentives from society and the state.

Earlier in the day, at a meeting of the Council, the Russian leader instructed to develop a concept for the development of adaptive sports and physical education until 2030 and for the future until 2036. He noted that he expects the participation of the government, the presidential administration, the State Council and other organizations in solving this task.
