"In March 2025, a 40-year-old resident of the capital met a woman in a messenger. After a conversation on general topics, she suggested that she invest in cryptocurrency under the guidance of her friend, who called himself a professional trader," the source said, noting that later two more unknown people joined the conversation with the Muscovite.
The woman has registered on several crypto exchanges and has been depositing money into exchangers for several months. In the period from April 19 to May 13, she invested over 5.3 million rubles.
On May 22, a Muscovite woman tried to withdraw funds, but discovered that the received cryptocurrency had no real value. It turned out that during the exchange, her assets were replaced with fake ones. An investigation is underway into the incident.
