The start of financing of the Russian lunar program, which will include seven missions, is planned this year. This was stated on May 28 by Gennady Krasnikov, President of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS), at a meeting of the general meeting of RAS members.

According to Krasnikov, at the first stage, the research will be carried out by automatic complexes that will study the poles of the Moon, where ice reserves are located, and deliver soil samples.

In addition, the head of the Russian Academy of Sciences spoke about the development of the space industry in the country and noted the new developments of scientists. Among them are the Spektr—UV space observatory, the Millimetron telescope and the Venera-D project, which aims to search for traces of life, study the atmosphere and climate on the planet.

"The proposed projects in the field of astronomy, planetary exploration, solar-terrestrial physics and biomedicine will allow achieving the highest scientific results," Krasnikov stressed.

On May 22, Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed Roscosmos to launch small spacecraft for educational and scientific purposes. In addition, Roscosmos, together with the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, by decree of the head of state, will support internships for students whose programs are related to the rocket and space industry.
