A resident of Chita was detained in Transbaikalia for encouraging terrorist activities. This was announced on Tuesday, May 27, by the press service of the Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia for the region.

"Employees of the Federal Security Service of Russia in the Trans—Baikal Territory detained a local resident born in 1975 who was involved in public calls for terrorist activities," the press release says.

According to a statement from the press service, the defendant called for a violent change in the constitutional order of the Russian Federation. He posted the relevant messages on one of the social networks.

A criminal case has been opened on this fact under Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code of Russia ("Public calls for terrorist activities using the Internet").

Investigative measures are being carried out.

On May 23, the FSB of the Russian Federation reported that a Russian who was preparing an explosion in the path of a parade column at the celebration of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War on May 9 was detained in Kaliningrad. The young man was given a preventive measure in the form of detention. He faces up to 20 years in prison.
