The attackers make a phone call and introduce themselves as employees of polyclinics, after which they inform them about the need to replace a paper medical card, for which the victim needs to be told the code from the SMS message and the SNILS number. This was announced on May 25 by the head of the State Duma Committee on Health Protection, Sergei Leonov.

According to him, these data are required by fraudsters in order to log into a person's personal account on the Gosuslugi portal.

"A new method of fraud has emerged, in which citizens receive massive calls disguised as clinic staff and are told that their paper medical card will soon be canceled as part of the modernization of the healthcare system and it urgently needs to be replaced with an electronic one," the head of the committee said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

He noted that during the call, the attackers try to pretend that an urgent action needs to be taken, which forces the victim to make a decision as quickly as possible.

Leonov drew attention to the fact that real medical staff would not call a mobile phone to resolve such issues. According to him, everyone has the right to use electronic or paper medical records and no one can cancel them.

In addition, he reminded that it is forbidden to transfer your personal data to unauthorized persons. If a person finds himself in such a situation, he should not panic, the expert added. In this case, it is necessary to immediately stop the call and call back to the official number of the medical institution to clarify the information.

On May 20, Roskomnadzor revealed a fraud scheme involving "double-calling." The department noted that they carefully analyze such cases when scammers imitate their exposure. The supervisory authority reminded that personal data, passwords, bank card numbers and other confidential information should not be disclosed over the phone, and if you receive a suspicious call or message, you should not succumb to pressure and threats.
