Over the past day, police in the Khabarovsk Territory have opened 17 criminal cases on fraud. The total damage exceeded 5 million rubles.

The scammers used various deception schemes. In Khabarovsk, a fraudster called a 63-year-old woman and asked her to dictate the code from an SMS message under the pretext of delivering food. Then, allegedly to protect her savings, another fraudster convinced the victim to transfer 810 thousand rubles to a "secure" account. This is reported by IA AmurMedia.

In Komsomolsk-on-Amur and the village of Mayak, Nanai district, an elderly man and woman trusted scammers who offered to receive income from investments. The damage exceeded 500 thousand rubles.

In addition, the criminals contacted residents of Khabarovsk and the village of Vanino on behalf of the bank. Under various pretexts, they convinced the victims to transfer more than 2 million rubles to outside accounts. In Komsomolsk-on-Amur, a 70-year-old woman transferred money under the pretext of declaring funds.

In Khimki, near Moscow, police detained a 35-year-old man who is suspected of providing courier services to telephone fraudsters. As a result of the scams, an 86-year-old woman lost 4.5 million rubles. The detainee took part of the amount from the victim.
