The march of the "Immortal Regiment" took place in Madrid
The march of the "Immortal Regiment" took place in Madrid, which, in the year of the celebration of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War (WWII), gathered a record number of participants, even guests from Latin America arrived. This was announced by the organizers on May 11.
The march was accompanied by police to prevent possible provocations by neo-Nazis. Unlike Germany and a number of other European Union (EU) countries, Soviet flags, St. George's ribbons, and even the chevrons of special operation participants are allowed in Spain.
At the rally in Madrid, the Victory Banner was unfurled, the voice of the legendary announcer Yuri Levitan and the songs of the war years were heard, the main of which was the "Holy War".
"The victory over Nazism united all people. Russia made the main contribution to the Victory, it suffered the biggest losses, but now, unfortunately, few people in the West recognize this," said Fernando, a resident of Madrid.
The Immortal Regiment campaign took place in Perth, Australia, on May 9. The participants performed the songs "Katyusha" and "Cranes" in honor of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
Victory Day was also celebrated in other countries. So, on May 9, thousands of residents and guests of Berlin took part in commemorative events. They performed the musical composition "Katyusha" and laid flowers at the memorials. At the same time, some participants of the events faced a ban on organizing a commemorative march and provocateurs who stretched the flags of Ukraine, as well as opposed the action.
