The National Media Group (NMG) and the Media Corporation of China (CMG) signed a cooperation agreement on May 8.

The document was signed during the visit of the Chinese delegation to the Russian Federation for the celebrations dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, in the presence of Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping.

Cooperation involves the exchange and joint creation of content, information technology interaction and the exchange of professional experience of specialists in order to further develop cultural ties and strengthen friendly relations between Moscow and Beijing.

"The beginning of cooperation with the Media Corporation of China (CMG) is an important step for NMG. China is a long—standing, strategically important partner for NMG. The content of our production is already enjoying success in China: the animated series "Three Cats" has gained several billion views in China, and the latest successful sales to China include the feature film "Ice — 3". This year, the successful premiere of the adventure detective blockbuster "Red Silk", produced jointly with Chinese partners, took place in Russia, the certificate of the national Chinese film and the rental certificate were received, we hope for wide distribution in China. We will continue to strive to produce content that is popular in both countries. We are confident that cooperation in the information sphere with China's leading media company will enable us to share an up—to-date picture of the world with a very large audience and eventually create new standards for the global media industry," said Svetlana Balanova, CEO of NMG.

She added that the signing of the agreement between the media holdings would be an important stage in the further development of bilateral relations and would help strengthen cultural and business cooperation between Russia and China.

On May 7, it became known that Andrei Volgin's joint Russian-Chinese film "Red Silk" will be released in China in September 2025. The film's distributor is NMG Film Distribution (part of NMG Holding), the production was handled by Nota Bene Film Group and NMG.

On the same day, "Red Silk" became the first modern Russian painting to receive the "dragon Seal" for unlimited distribution in China. At the same time, Sinologist Sergey Mstislavsky noted that there is a lot of interest in the historical period reflected in the film in China, which ensures high box office receipts.
