- The general producer of "Red Silk" called the factor uniting viewers from Russia and China
Viewers of Russia and China are united by traditional values followed by both peoples. Vadim Byrkin, the general producer of the film "Red Silk", shared this belief with Izvestia on May 7.
"We are united by traditional values that both we and they follow. The Chinese audience is a little more sentimental than the Russian audience. Our viewers are more experienced in some historical things related to Russia, and they [the Chinese], of course, in those related to China. Striving for the bright is what binds us together," he explained.
According to Byrkin, the release of the film "Red Silk" is an important event, especially during the years of joint culture between Russia and China. He noted that everyone loves historical cinema: both Russians and Chinese.
"We always like to refer to history. Of course, we were guided by Chinese tastes, so we are considered as a national film in China. In Russia it is a Russian national film, in China it is a Chinese film. <...> In Russia it has succeeded. Let's hope that it will be possible in China," said the general producer.
Byrkin stressed that the release of "Red Silk" would not have been possible without the participation of the National Media Group (NMG).
"This film would not have been possible without the National Media Group, because they believed in cinema. One of the first," he concluded.
On May 7, Sergey Sanakoev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian-Chinese Friendship Society and a member of the Russian International Affairs Council, said that the Red Silk plays a special historical role for China. According to him, the screening of the film will attract the attention of the Chinese audience, emphasize the importance of national history and common victories of the Russian Federation and China.
Earlier that day, "Red Silk" became the first modern Russian painting to receive the "dragon Seal" for unlimited distribution in China. At the same time, Sinologist Sergey Mstislavsky noted that there is a lot of interest in the historical period reflected in the film in China, which ensures high box office receipts.
"Red Silk" will be released in Chinese cinemas in September 2025. The film's distributor is NMG Kinoprokat (part of the National Media Group holding). Produced by Nota Bene Film Group and NMG.
