Hundreds of people sang "Victory Day" with the Turkish Choir at the UN headquarters
A concert was held at the UN headquarters in New York, where the Turkish Choir and the SOPRANO art group performed wartime songs. This was reported on May 6 by a RIA Novosti correspondent.
The concert was dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The artists presented such famous compositions as "Katyusha", "Dark Night", "Blue Handkerchief", "Cranes", "Darkie" and many others, including modern works.
During the performance of the songs "Buchenwald Alarm" and "Victory Day", hundreds of spectators stood up and sang along to the choir.
"The victory in World War II was shared, Russia has never belittled the importance of the Second Front and the help of the Allies. We remember and appreciate everyone's contribution," said Russia's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Vasily Nebenzia, addressing the audience.
The concert was also attended by veterans, high-profile diplomats from different countries and staff of the UN secretariat.
On May 4, the Immortal Regiment campaign on the eve of the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War was held in Beirut, the capital of Lebanon.
