A large forest fire on the border with Ukraine was reported in Belarus.
A large forest fire broke out in Belarus on the border with Ukraine. This was announced on April 27 by the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic.
"A large forest fire on the border with Ukraine is currently being extinguished by forestry workers," the Telegram channel says.
It was clarified that a swampy area in the Milosevic forestry was also on fire. The ministry clarified that forestry workers promptly began to eliminate the fire, and specialists and equipment from five forestry enterprises were involved in extinguishing it.
Belarusian Forestry Minister Alexander Kulik expressed concern about the spread of cross-border forest fires from Ukrainian territory.
"The problem now is fires. For the first time in history, on February 21, we began a fire-hazardous period. And cross—border fires, the latest of which came from Ukrainian territory," the BelTA news agency quoted him as saying.
According to him, the Belarusian side suspects that the fires may be the result of deliberate arson. He himself expressed the opinion that, among other things, he does not consider the fire to be an accident. The Minister stressed that currently employees of the forestry industry are on standby, and fire brigades have been reinforced along the state border.
On April 25, the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations announced the protection of 30 settlements from fire since the beginning of wildfires in the Trans-Baikal Territory. It was clarified that the specialists of the Ministry of Emergency Situations were able to eliminate the flame on 52 hectares and stop its spread in the village of Zhireken. The village of Zelenoe Ozero was also protected from fire.
