On April 26, Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova told Izvestia about the farewell ceremony with Pope Francis.

"250,000 people prayed for the repose of the soul of Pope Francis," Lyubimova said.

She also noted that representatives from more than 170 countries had come to honor the memory of the pontiff.

On April 26, the funeral ceremony of Pope Francis took place in the Vatican. It was visited by a total of 50 heads of state, including US President Donald Trump. Russia was represented at the ceremony by Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova.

Pope Francis died on the morning of April 21 at the age of 89. According to Professor Andrea Archangeli, director of the Vatican's Office of Health and Hygiene, death occurred as a result of a cerebral stroke.
