About 30 forest fires are active in the territory of Transbaikalia
There are 26 forest fires in the Trans-Baikal Territory. The total area exceeds 26 thousand hectares. In total, more than 900 people are fighting the fire. 170 pieces of equipment are used.
According to the ChitaMedia news agency, with reference to the regional Ministry of Natural Resources, three fires with a total area of more than 1.3 thousand hectares in Tungokochensk and Sretensky districts were eliminated in a day. 11 fires were localized, including in Chita, Chernyshevsky, Tungokochensky and Shelopuginsky districts. Their total area is 6.3 thousand hectares.
Since the beginning of the fire danger period, 118 fires have been registered in the region, the area of which was about 45 thousand hectares. This is less than the same period in 2024. However, the area of fires has become much larger: in 2024, 138 fires occurred on 5.5 thousand hectares.
The Governor of the Trans-Baikal Territory, Alexander Osipov, said on April 7 that a regional emergency regime had been introduced in the region in connection with forest fires. He stressed that the situation remains tense, and called for the protection of the region's forests.
