In Moscow, during archaeological work, unique artifacts of the XVI–XVIII centuries were found: a signet with the image of a warrior and a lion, an ornamental overlay and a story tile. This was announced on Sunday, April 6, by the mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin, in his Telegram channel.

Thus, a unique double-sided seal was discovered at the church of Elijah the Prophet. The artifact is made of non—ferrous metal, with a lion depicted on one side and a warrior with a sword and dagger in his hands on the other, the Moscow City News Agency notes. In the Middle Ages, these were popular symbols of valor and power. Usually, the warrior was depicted only in profile or in full height, and on the found signet he is depicted from the waist up. The metropolitan archaeologists have a lot of scientific work to do to study the find.

An interesting 17th-century non-ferrous metal plaque with a well-preserved lion image has been discovered in the area of Obydenskiye Lane. At that time, they were widely used to decorate bags or belts.

An 18th-century Moscow story tile was found on the territory of the Chizhevsky farmstead. Such tiles were created both under the influence of ancient Russian terracotta tiles and imitated the Dutch manner: biblical, genre scenes and animals were depicted on a white background with blue paintings. All the finds will be transferred to the Museum Fund of Russia as part of the collections, according to RIAMO.

Over the past 14 years, the capital's archaeologists have discovered more than 120,000 artifacts. Over the past five years, more than 47,000 antique objects have been sent to the Museum Fund, Moscow 24 clarifies.

In December, excavations were completed on the territory of the Chizhevsky farmstead in Moscow. Archaeologists have discovered more than six thousand antiquities, notes 360.ru .

In October, during excavations in 4th Krutitsky Lane in Moscow, archaeologists discovered a fragment of a bone compass from the late 18th - early 19th century. Experts have not found such artifacts in the capital before, IA Regnum notes.
