AvtoVAZ denied rumors about the suspension of the plant

AvtoVAZ has no plans to stop car production. At the same time, in May, the company will go on a planned two-week corporate vacation, during which the modernization and maintenance of assembly lines and equipment will be carried out. The company's press service informed Izvestia about this on April 4.

The domestic manufacturer commented on publications in the media and Telegram channels that AvtoVAZ was allegedly secretly reducing production due to overstocking and low cars, and the management was thinking about suspending the plant in Tolyatti. The company said that the authors of these publications were "making a big deal out of a molehill."

"The current state of AVTOVAZ allows us to maintain financial stability even with significant fluctuations in demand. We fully fulfill our social obligations to the team and are working on all new projects: Iskra, which is scheduled to start production on April 19, a crossover based on the Vesta platform, which we will show at the SPIEF in June, and subsequent models, which we are keeping secret for now," the company stressed.

Earlier that day, AvtoVAZ announced that sales of the classic Lada Niva three-door SUV in the new Sport modification will begin on April 5, the 48th anniversary of the start of production of the first serial Niva. The price of the new product starts from 1.7 million rubles.

On April 2, the head of AVTOVAZ, Maxim Sokolov, said that in March the Russian car market showed significant negative dynamics, declining by 44.4%. In March, 28.7 thousand Lada passenger cars and light commercial vehicles were sold in Russia, which is 7.4% more than in February this year and 33% less than a year earlier.
