About 650 people were poisoned by shawarma in Turkey.
Almost 650 residents of the Turkish province of Kocali were hospitalized with poisoning after eating shawarma with chicken in one of the cafes of the Kerfez district. This was announced on Friday, April 4, on the website of the provincial administration.
It is specified that the patients had nausea, vomiting and fever. Of the 648 patients, almost all were sent for outpatient treatment, and two remained in hospitals.
The Laboratory Department for Food Control conducted an inspection of the cafe in connection with the mass poisoning. Upon completion of the examination, it was established that the chicken that was used to prepare the dish did not meet the requirements of the Turkish Food Code.
Two cafe owners have been arrested, and the establishment has been sealed.
Earlier, on January 15, it was reported that 23 people died in Istanbul due to poisoning with counterfeit alcohol. In the case of the sale of counterfeit goods, law enforcement agencies detained six people.
