Hungarian Foreign Minister announces visit to Moscow to discuss conflict in Ukraine
Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations Peter Szijjarto announced on March 26 that he was going to Moscow, where he planned, among other things, to discuss a peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine.
Szijjarto noted on his Facebook page (the social network belongs to Meta, a company whose activities are recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation) that the negotiations will focus on resolving the conflict in Ukraine, as well as the security of energy supplies and strengthening economic cooperation between the Russian Federation and Hungary.
The minister also said that the recent negotiations between Russia and the United States have become a "new milestone" in the peaceful settlement, which makes the world safer.
He recalled that Hungary had been advocating for maintaining communication channels with Moscow for three years.
Earlier, on March 25, Szijjarto said that the European Union should not hinder negotiations between Russia and the United States on the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict. He also expressed gratitude to the American leader Donald Trump and stressed that such negotiations were impossible before his assumption of the presidency.
