Ex-intelligence officers of Canada declared the risk of destabilization of the country by Trump

Former employees of the Canadian Intelligence and Security Service (CSIS) said that US President Donald Trump may try to destabilize the situation in Canada through social media and financial support for supporters of the country's accession to the United States. According to the ex-intelligence officers, Washington's main tool of influence will not be traditional intelligence services, but social networks such as X (ex. Twitter), owned by entrepreneur, head of the Department of Public Administration Efficiency (DOGE) Ilon Mask.

"I would see Mr. Musk as a problem," said Ward Elcock, the former head of CSIS, who ran the agency for ten years.

Elcock also expressed concern that changes in the American intelligence community under Trump could lead to increased threats to Canada.

Another former intelligence officer, Dick Fadden, who also headed CSIS, noted that if the US leader is really trying to change political views in Canada, then this can be regarded as foreign interference.
