VTB reported growth of retail savings portfolio in January

In January, VTB increased its portfolio of retail liabilities of individuals by 47 billion rubles. At the same time, according to the bank's experts, the market in this month showed a seasonal general decline - by RUB 150 billion.

According to VTB, in the first month of the year, customers opened about 900 thousand deposits and 530 thousand savings accounts.

"In January, the demand for deposits in the bank continued after the record growth in December, then the growth of the portfolio amounted to almost 900 billion rubles," - said Deputy President - Chairman of the Board of VTB Georgy Gorshkov.

He believes that "this year VTB will remain the market maker of the entire market, which remained generally "quiet" in January". "But globally, the time of the depositor remains - the market is waiting for the key rate to remain. We expect that in the conditions of its value of 21%, the market of retail liabilities will show this year's growth by the same 21%", - said Gorshkov.

The bank predicts that by the end of the year VTB's retail savings portfolio will grow by almost a third, to 13.3 trillion rubles. At the same time, according to experts, at the end of the first half of the year, the savings market in Russia will overcome the mark of 60 trillion rubles, and at the end of the year will exceed 68 trillion rubles.

VTB explained that most of the structure of savings of Russians are deposits: depositors tend to accumulate as much money as possible on deposits, the current rates on which provide a high rate of return. Analysts expect that this year Russians will be able to earn a record Br9 trillion in interest income.
