Air defense forces overnight intercepted 36 Ukrainian drones over Russian regions

Air defense forces intercepted 36 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) overnight over Russian regions, the Russian Defense Ministry has said. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on February 8.

"During the past night the air defense forces on duty destroyed and intercepted 36 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles," the press service informed in the Telegram-channel of the ministry.

It is specified that 18 drones were shot down over the territory of Rostov region, 11 UAVs were intercepted over the territory of Volgograd region, five - intercepted over the territory of Belgorod region and two - over Krasnodar Krai.

Earlier, on February 6, the air defense forces intercepted 28 Ukrainian UAVs overnight. It is specified that 13 drones were intercepted over the waters of the Sea of Azov, eight - over the territory of the Rostov region, six UAVs - over the territory of the Krasnodar region and one - over the territory of the Astrakhan region.

The AFU is trying to strike Russian territories against the background of the special operation in Donbass, the start of which was announced on February 24, 2022. The decision was taken due to the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
