The Pentagon has begun restricting access to books on immigration and psychology in its schools, citing the U.S. President Donald Trump's administration's suppression of diversity, equity and inclusion programs. This was reported by The Washington Post on February 8.
It is specified that the list contains specific book chapters or entire books. Recently restricted materials include a book chapter in a psychology course for high school students about gender and sexuality, a lesson for fifth-grade students about how immigration affects the U.S., and the book Becoming Nicole, about a family who accepts their transgender daughter (the LGBT movement is recognized as extremist in Russia).
The banned list also includes an educational kit created for sixth-grade students for African American History Month and a biography of Albert Cashier, a transgender man who served in the Union Army during the Civil War.
"The Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) is reviewing its current policies and training resources to ensure compliance with applicable DoD executive orders and guidance," DoDEA spokesman Will Griffin said in a statement.
On Jan. 29, Trump banned funding for sex reassignment surgeries for those under the age of 19. According to the material, the children who changed their sex will soon regret that "they were disfigured" and will realize the tragedy of not being able to have children of their own.
Prior to that, on January 20, Trump said that the official US policy is to recognize only two genders - male and female.
Before that, on December 14 last year, American entrepreneur Ilon Musk supported the idea of life imprisonment for doctors who help children perform sex changes.
