Head of Baltiysk and his deputy detained on suspicion of bribery
Investigative bodies of the Investigative Committee of Russia in Kaliningrad region have detained the head of the administration of the Balti urban district, Sergei Melnikov, and his deputy Maxim Kovalenko on suspicion of bribery. This was reported by the Department of Investigative Committee of Russia in the region on February 8.
According to preliminary data, on January 15, 2025, Kovalenko, being in official dependence on Melnikov, handed over to the latter a bribe in the amount of at least 575 thousand rubles in return for general patronage in the service.
"Melnikov is suspected of committing an offense under p. "in" part 5 of article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (large-scale bribery). Kovalenko is suspected of committing a bribe transfer (p. "b" part 4 of article 291 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation)", - informed the press service in the Telegram-channel of the agency.
