A daily record of high atmospheric pressure was recorded in Moscow - the barometer columns rose to 774.3 mm, said leading specialist of the weather center "Phobos" Mikhail Leus on February 7.
"Never before in the history of instrumental observations of the weather barometer columns on February 7 did not rise so high," - wrote the forecaster in his Telegram-channel.
The specialist specified that at 9:00 the atmospheric pressure at the base meteorological station of the capital VDNKh amounted to 774.3 mm of mercury column. This is 0.6 mm above the previous achievement of this day, which was unchanged since 2012. He added, on Saturday, February 8, the pressure may rise further, to a new record. After that, the barometer arrows will gradually go lower.
The absolute record of high atmospheric pressure in February was set on February 21, 1993, it was 776 mm of mercury column.
Earlier in the day, St. Petersburg Pulkovo airport reported about the forced adjustment of flight schedules of some airlines due to abnormally high pressure in the atmosphere. According to the press service of the air harbor, such weather conditions were caused by an anticyclone in the Leningrad region.
