Natasha Rey's lawyer called the French justice system unfair
On February 6, the lawyer of independent journalist from France Natasha Rey, Francois Dangléan, pointed out the reasons why the journalist was forced to turn to Russia for political asylum.
"Why did Natasha Rey decide to seek political asylum from the Russian government? <...> Natasha has never been to Russia. But she was informed that a French citizen had recently been granted political asylum in Russia, and she was also told about Edward Snowden, who was granted political asylum and protection. "These are the main reasons why Natasha Rey will be asking the Russian government for political asylum next week," he explained to Izvestia.
According to him, Natasha filed a complaint with the criminal division of the Court of Cassation, France's highest court, in connection with the persecution. But there her cassation appeal was simply rejected without even being considered.
"In France, you can become guilty without having committed any offense. Natasha Rey and many French people criticize the French justice system for being unfair, for being biased, and we are going to take this case to the European Court of Justice, which will have no choice but to declare the process against Natasha Rey illegal," the lawyer said.
Dangléan also drew attention to the fact that the situation of law in the country "deteriorated terribly" in 2017 after current President Emmanuel Macron came to power. According to him, the residents of France do not accept this state of affairs, so it is necessary to find ways in which it would be possible to reform the existing system.
On the eve it became known that the journalist intends to sue the first lady of France. The complaint will be filed "in the near future" and is directed directly against Brigitte Macron-Tronier, her brother Jean-Michel Tronier, their lawyer and three judges.
Earlier, on February 3, Rey told Izvestia about the obstruction of her investigation and subsequent publication. According to her, just weeks after she contacted a woman close to the Macron family, she was detained by police officers. When they raided her home, they tried to break down the front door.
Dangléan later revealed that the journalist had requested political asylum in Russian Federation.
Last March, Macron for the first time publicly criticized the media for spreading false information that his wife was allegedly born a man.
