Ukraine announces operation linked to corruption in Kiev mayor's office

The Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP) of Ukraine is conducting an operation to expose a criminal group involved in fraud in Kiev's city administration. About it on February 6 reported Telegram-channel of the law enforcement agency.

"SAP and NABU (National anti-corruption Bureau of Ukraine. - Ed.) conduct a large-scale operation to expose a criminal organization involved in land corruption in the Kiev city Council and Kiev city administration," - stated in the message.

Earlier, on January 29, the mayor of Kiev Vitali Klitschko accused the entourage of Vladimir Zelensky (whose term of office expired on May 20, 2024) in attempts to destroy self-government in the city. According to the mayor, the head of the capital's military administration, Timur Tkachenko, is actively blocking the resolution of economic issues in Kiev.

On February 4, Zelensky admitted the fact of corruption of billions of dollars in Ukraine's key financial bodies. He accused oligarchs, members of the Verkhovna Rada and Ukrainian officials of creating a corrupt system.

Before that, on 25 December, interlocutors of the German N-TV channel said that Ukrainian men did not want to defend the corrupt Kiev authorities and were fleeing the country, considering it a prison.
