Vladimir Titov, former First Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation, has died

Former First Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Vladimir Titov has died at the age of 66. This was reported on February 6 by the head of the Russian Federation Council (RFC) Committee on International Affairs Grigory Karasin.

Karasin called the incident a great personal grief. According to him, Titov was his close friend whom he had known for decades.

"We shared the joys and hardships of diplomatic everyday life together, celebrated and grieved together, socialized with our families and were active sportsmen. Volodya had a tough character, which in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs knew, he was respected, but often also feared," - pointed out the head of the SF committee in his Telegram-channel.

He also called Titov an outstanding person who was able to make and defend his own decisions.

Titov graduated from MGIMO in 1980, after which he joined the Russian Foreign Ministry. In different years he was Minister Counselor at the Russian Embassy in Sweden, and also worked as Russian Ambassador to Bulgaria. From April 22, 2013 to July 29, 2024 he was First Deputy Head of the Russian Foreign Ministry, in charge of relations with European countries. He holds the highest state awards.
