Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation for Digital Economy and Innovation, Communications, Media, as well as Culture, Tourism and Sports Dmitry Chernyshenko spoke on February 6 about the importance of projects in the sphere of technological leadership.

"Since 2025, Russia has been implementing national projects in the sphere of technological leadership, with representatives of science, business, and government agencies participating in them. And on the eve of the Day of Russian Science, I would like to note the crucial role of such interaction in achieving technological leadership of our country on the goal that President Vladimir Putinhas set for us," he said.

According to him, Russia is currently among the top 10 countries in the world in terms of research and development.

Chernyshenko also drew attention to the Future Technologies Forum to be held in Moscow on February 20-21, which will bring together representatives of business, science and technology from both Russia and other countries.

"This is a unique platform where the science of the future is discussed. The main topic every year is one new technological area that has the greatest potential and can ensure both technological sovereignty and leadership of our country," he said.

The forum will present the achievements of Russian scientists and companies, as well as a discussion on import substitution, manufacturing, high-tech chemistry "and many other important issues."

Earlier, on February 4, the mayor of the capital Sergey Sobyanin said that on the eve of the Day of Russian Science young scientists received the Moscow government awards for 2024. The winners were 78 researchers, whose developments have already proved themselves in practice.

Before that, on February 3, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov advocated a ban on the purchase of foreign equipment in the presence of domestic analogs. In addition, the First Deputy Prime Minister recommended the regions to concentrate the main enterprises of the industry, ensure control over the work done and expand measures to support machine tool builders.

In February 2024, President Putin said that the Russian industry is steadily developing despite external pressure. According to him, domestic companies are successfully replacing imported products and organizing production where Western brands used to be.
