- The FCC has released the full version of Kamala Harris' scandalous interview for "60 Minutes"
In the United States, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has published the full version of the scandalous interview of former Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris. The New York Post (NYP) reported on February 5.
"Trump-appointed Federal Communications Commission Chairman Brendan Carr received the full transcript and video on Monday," the tabloid reported.
That said, people who viewed the recording pointed out that CBS Television and Radio, which broadcast the interview, heavily abbreviated or edited some of Harris' answers to make her speech more coherent.
"When asked by '60 Minutes' correspondent Bill Whitaker what the U.S. can do to prevent the war in Gaza from spiraling out of control, Harris gives an incoherent 140-word answer," the piece said.
However, in the edited version, she gives a shorter and more succinct answer, reduced to 56 words, that is, by more than half.
On another question about Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Harris gave an even longer 179-word answer, but viewers were shown an edited version of 20 words.
After the transcripts were released, Carr said the Federal Communications Commission would hold hearings on "fraudulent editing" by the CBS television network.
"The FCC has concluded that soliciting comments on the issues raised in the complaint will serve the public interest. People will have an opportunity to voice their opinions," Carr wrote on social networking site X (Formerly Twitter).
It is clarified that despite the fact that the First Amendment of the country's Constitution prohibits interfering with the editorial policies of media outlets and the content they broadcast, in the U.S., broadcasters and media outlets are not allowed to intentionally distort news and facts.
Last October, the campaign headquarters of Republican Party leader Donald Trump, who later became US President, released a statement saying that the interview of then-acting US Vice President and Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris with Fox News host Bret Baier had turned out to be a disaster. It also chided Harris for failing to give a straight answer to any question, "every answer was a complete disaster."
